The French Golden Age was a lover of myths, 

Of all the sorceresses, Armide became the most famous in the 17th century. A woman of beauty who knews all ways of love, she best embodied the double-edged sword that love can be.

All through the 17th and 18th centuries, les Jardins d’Armide appeared in many works of music – of Lulli, Vivaldi, Haendel or Haydn – of painting – of Poussin, Van Dyck, Fragonard and Tiepolo – and in literature as well, stemming from the 16th century epic of Torquato Tasso.

In 1909, the famous perfume House of Oriza L. Legrand presented “Les Jardins d’Armide” to the Parisian who’s who as a tribute to the legendary gardens and the women who symbolised them over the arts.

Rose, the Queen of Flowers, reigns in the centre of this bewitching bouquet picked from Armida’s very own garden.
